Curious and happy to find others who are too

Hi fellow nurses, I stumbled upon this blog by mistake, and am very curious as to where it may go for me. It seems like I have been in nursing almost all my life. I have climbed up the ladder from the bottom and last summer graduated with my MSN. I don't really work as a nurse right now because my husband who is a physician (and was my boss) is now retired. I was trained in hypnosis through Omni hypnosis, but because of a complicated reason, I never got much practice but would like to brush up on my skills. I also earned a certificate in Forensic nursing last year, (this is where my true interest is). Forensics, Nursing & Hypnosis... they just seem to go together don't you think??!! My plan is to continue with my education, but right now, after 4 years, I'm still on break. I am happy to be here and hope you don't find my lurking too much of an imposition.

    Hi Deb
It is good to see that nurses are increasingly recognizing the value of hypnosis in their work. I've been retired from the field for some time now and have a similar history (MA,PhD(ABD)NYU. Early on I had a small practice mostly pain control and the other usual stuff and had, surprisingly (for that time) a good rapport with many of the physicians in the use of hypnosis. I got 'retreaded' with Cal several years ago but was loath to pick up practice because of the area in which I then lived. Since then my interests have changed and I'm mostly into metaphysical hypnosis for spiritual self-development (astral projection, meditation, higher self, cabala, shamanic journeying and the like). I took Marilyn Gordon's course several NGH conventions ago where she wedded hypnotism with Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). If you want to take an exciting journey into healing try some of the energy healing methods. Of course, Therapeutic Touch a la Dolores Krieger has been around for awhile in nursing and I believe some states have adopted some of these modalities 'as the proper province' of nursing practice. Forensic Hypnosis is indeed fascinating and I wish you much luck with it.
